GAH!! More Bad Art!

I just happened across this piece of artwork from the upcoming What If? Age of Apocalypse...

Anyone hazard a guess why I think it's bad artwork? Here's a hint.

You know, I can handle the occassional design gaff, like the hand you mentioned. There's at least some degree of subjectiveness with that kind of thing, and even if I don't like it personally, I can accept that some people might claim it helps draw your eyes from the first panel to the second (or whatever their rationale might be).

That's not to say, though, that I like that kind of confused storytelling. I had a lot of problems with Steampunk despite how much I really wanted to like the series.

But that physics-defying whack on the jaw? I'm with James Kakalios: a character gets one "miracle moment" in their origin, but then they need to start playing by the same rules as the rest of us.
