  • Peter Johnson provides a biography of the first Native American woman to join the Marine Corps Women's Reserve, Minnie Spotted Wolf. She was the subject of a Calling All Girls comic biography, which Johnson notes as being fairly accurate.
  • Leela Jacinto has a rounded look at Riad Sattouf's The Arab of the Future, which just came out in France but isn't due in the U.S. until October.
  • Neil Cohn points us to and discusses a 1978 study of a remote Nepalese tribe and how their inability to understand even basic images, much less sequential ones, suggests that comics is a language and not a medium.
  • Gene Kannenberg highlights a call for papers to examine the work of Julie Doucet and Gabrielle Bell.
