Great Day, Great Country

I wanted to include an old Independence Day comic today, and I apparently already used that one Little Nemo strip last year. Instead, I found this editorial cartoon from later in McCay's career. Gorgeous though the illustration is, it's hard for me to get behind any of the messages in the actual comic itself, in light of the past few years of horribleness coming out of Washington, DC. But try to have a "Happy Independence Day" anyway.
