You ever hear of Socko the Seadog? It was a short-lived strip from the late 1930s that was done by none other than Jack Kirby! I just wrote up a piece about it The Jack Kirby Collector, but since it's so rarely seen, I thought I'd share a few of the earliest strips I found when I was researching it. Yes, it started as a pretty blatant Popeye rip-off, but that's not Jack's fault; that's exactly what his publisher told him to do.
